I always start every project with low-fidelity sktches. This allows for quick concept generation and iteration before moving into 3D.
After sketching out and getting buy-in for the individual components, I move into 3D, modeling out each scene to get a sense for composition, perspective, lighting and shadows.
Next, comes color, lighting and material explorations. This phase is all about trying out different moods to narrow in on the right direction.
After aligning on look and feel, it’s time to apply that style to the rest of the scenes to crate a family of illustrations that feel unique but consistent.
